Teavotion is all about devotion to tea. Whether it's Japanese Sencha, Chinese White Peony or Taiwan Oolong we believe the art of true tea making is slowly disapearing in an increasingly fast-paced world. In Japan, for example, where traditional tea ceremonies are still practised, the whole tea drinking experience is more to do with pleasure, socialising and relaxation. In the traditional tea ceremony every step of infusing the tea is part of the overall experience, almost to the point of meditation. From the very second the leaves are placed in the Kyusu, to the gentle pouring of the aromatic infusion and the serving to friends, it's all done slowly and in minute detail.
Although we British are a nation of tea drinkers, comparing the taste of a premium Japanese Loose Leaf Tea to that of a tea bag infusion could be similar to comparing tinned salmon to the fresh variety.
However, until recently, the problem in the UK was finding shops offering speciality and gourmet loose leaf teas, who could give tea drinkers the opportunity of tasting a variety of green teas from around the world, and all at affordable prices. This then became our passion. We wanted to reacquaint tea drinkers to the traditional way of brewing tea, just as it had always been done before the tea bag. It was from this passion that the Teavotion brand was born.
Based in Cornwall, we are a vibrant, family run tea company whose wish is to reintroduce the culture back into tea making, or as we often like to call it "Putting the "T" back into Britain".
